We live in a strange world, where the poor walk miles to find food and the rich walk miles to digest it.

Whilst some people in the world are dying of having no food and drink, others are dying of having too much food and drink.

‎I am driven by two main philosophies: know more today about the world than I knew yesterday and lessen the suffering of others. You’d be surprised how far that gets you.

There are 22 million women in the world who spend 5 hours a day collecting water for their children and families.

20% of the world’s population live on less than $1 per day.

This image was taken about one month after the earthquake in Pakistan in 2005. People were still coming down from the mountains trying to find shelter and were suffering from trauma. Winter was on the way and the need for shelter was urgent. This father with his child had been collecting food. The photographer says, ‘I spent ten days in Balakot documenting the situation after the quake. People were still digging for their family members.’
